About Vasolux MicroSystems

History

VasoLux MicroSystems is a privately funded medical device company headquartered just west of Cleveland, in Elyria, OH in the GLIDE incubator. The Company was established in 2005 to develop medical devices that could eliminate the subjective nature of diagnosing various diseases. VasoLux MicroSystems was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the Lorain County Foundation Innovation Fund Award and became a JumpStart portfolio company in 2008.

Mission

VasoLux MicroSystems is dedicated to delivering innovation and the most advanced technology to the medical device industry. Our vision is to improve the efficiency of the health care system by eliminating unnecessary surgical procedures. We believe that objective and quantitative diagnostic information will improve the patient's quality of life and eliminate waste in the health care system. To implement this vision, VasoLux MicroSystems has built an expansive research and development network that includes nationally recognized research hospitals, universities, and government laboratories. True to our engineering roots, VasoLux MicroSystems maintains an innovation-centric corporate culture that was designed to promote and develop the creativity of each employee and maximize our ability to meet the needs of the fast-changing healthcare industry.

Management Team

Elliot Reed, JD, MBA - General Manager
Mr. Reed received his MBA and JD degrees from Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Reed has more than 5 years experience in commercializing disruptive and early stage technologies and has been involved in the development of more than 11 high-technology start-up companies in the medical device, biotechnology, and energy industries.

Subba Shankar, PhD - Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Shankar received his PhD in Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University, as well as his MS in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Shankar is an inductee into the Space Technology Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Nortech Innovation Award. Dr. Shankar has more than 10 years experience in developing medical devices with 5 commercial products to his credit

Scientific Advisory Board

Floyd Loop, MD
Dr. Loop is the retired CEO of the Cleveland Clinic where he served the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for nearly 35 years, holding leadership positions including Chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.

Ed Knapp, PhD
Dr. Knapp is the former Director of the NSF under Ronald Regan, former President of the Santa Fe Institute, and retired Director at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Seth Greenwald, D.Phil. (Oxon)
Dr. Greenwald is the director of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Center of the Cleveland Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital at Lutheran and a nationally recognized bio-academician, thought leader and educator. Dr. Greenwald has more than 30 years of experience as a productive researcher in areas of joint biomechanics and artificial implants.
